Scandals & crimes ledger
resolved - pleaded guilty — 1993 guilty plea for possession of a fake driver's license (Key West, Florida)
In 1993, while a college-age student, Andy Barr (Garland Hale Barr IV) was charged by police in Key West, Florida with possession of a fake Mississippi driver's license. According to court records, he pleaded guilty and was ordered to perform community service. The matter predates his political career. Reporting later noted that in 2003, when applying for state jobs under Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher, Barr checked 'No' on application sections asking whether he had ever been convicted of violating any law; no court or official body took formal action over the application answer.
