resolved — FEC Negotiated Settlement: Untimely Remediation of Excessive and Prohibited Contributions (ADR 1142)
The FEC's Reports Analysis Division referred Jon Ossoff for Senate (treasurer Steven Mele) to the ADR Office for failing to remedy excessive, prohibited, and other impermissible contributions from the 2020 general and runoff elections within the legally required 30- and 60-day timeframes. The impermissible contributions totaled $363,272.43 and came from individuals with foreign addresses, a multicandidate PAC, non-qualified PACs, unregistered organizations, LLCs, and a corporation. The campaign's compliance vendor attributed the delays to logistical challenges from the historic volume of donations received. All contributions were ultimately refunded, though outside the required timeframes. The FEC approved a $27,000 civil penalty in a 6-0 vote on February 7, 2024.
