resolved — Arrest at Abortion-Rights Protest in Front of U.S. Supreme Court
Dean was one of approximately 35 people, including 16 other Members of Congress, arrested by U.S. Capitol Police on July 19, 2022 for blocking First Street NE near the Supreme Court during an abortion-rights demonstration following the Dobbs decision. Capitol Police issued three standard warnings before arresting demonstrators. Dean was charged under D.C. Code § 22-1307 (crowding, obstructing, or incommoding), processed on-site, paid a $50 fine, and was released. The House Ethics Committee subsequently concluded no further investigation was warranted.
