criminal-other · 2016-03-01 · U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia · McCullum sentenced to 1 year and 1 day in federal prison; Browne-Louis sentenced to 2 years probation and $2,000 fine
Two former congressional staffers, Juan R. McCullum and Dorene Browne-Louis, were indicted in July 2017 and pleaded guilty in January 2018 to federal cyberstalking charges and D.C. conspiracy charges for stealing and distributing private nude images of Delegate Plaskett and her husband Jonathan Buckney-Small. McCullum took the images from Plaskett's iPhone in March 2016 under the pretense of helping repair it, then distributed them via a fake email account in July 2016 to political opponents, reporters, and others in an attempt to harm her re-election campaign. Browne-Louis assisted by providing email addresses and sending an image to a rival campaign. McCullum was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison plus two years of probation. Browne-Louis received two years of probation and a $2,000 fine. Plaskett was the victim, not the subject, of this criminal matter.
