resolved — Alienation of Affection Civil Lawsuit — Scott Lassiter v. Tim Moore
Scott Lassiter, a former Apex town councilman, sued NC House Speaker Tim Moore in June 2023 for alienation of affection, alleging Moore used his position as one of the most powerful elected officials in North Carolina to entice Jamie Liles Lassiter into a three-year extramarital affair beginning in 2019. Lassiter sought $200,000 in damages and alleged Moore traded political favors (including a 50% salary increase for Liles Lassiter to approximately $123,000) for the relationship. Moore initially called the suit 'baseless' but later acknowledged an 'on-again, off-again' relationship, claiming she had told him she was separated. Court documents indicated Liles Lassiter did not separate from her husband until January 11, 2023. A confidential settlement was reached and the case was dismissed without prejudice in July 2023.
