campaign-finance · 2024-07-01 · Federal Election Commission · Commission voted 4-0 on March 13, 2025 to dismiss all allegations; file formally closed April 14, 2025.
End Citizens United filed a complaint with the FEC alleging that Barrett's state campaign committee (Friends of Tom Barrett) paid $40,000 in non-federal funds to consulting firm Roe Strategic on behalf of his federal campaign committee (Tom Barrett for Congress), in violation of 52 U.S.C. § 30125(e)(1)(A) and related regulations. Barrett's campaign denied the allegation, asserting the state committee payments were for separate services unrelated to the federal campaign. The FEC voted 4-0 to dismiss all allegations and closed the file.
