dismissed — Virginia Misdemeanor Charge: Carrying Firearm at Dulles Airport
On June 28, 2024, TSA officers at Washington Dulles International Airport discovered an unloaded .380-caliber handgun in Spartz's carry-on bag as she prepared to board a flight to Europe. Spartz said she accidentally left the weapon in a suitcase pocket. A Class 1 misdemeanor charge (carrying a weapon in an airport terminal) was filed in Loudoun County General District Court on July 11, 2024, and separately the TSA issued a civil penalty notice. The state charge was dismissed on September 20, 2024 (nolle prosequi) after Spartz completed a gun safety course. The TSA civil penalty proceedings were separate; the exact amount paid is not in public records.
